These events are set up like job fairs, so feel free to drop by at any time!
There will also be free food, Alternative Breaks swag sales, and info on fundraising and scholarship opportunities!

If you have any questions, please contact ab.gv.publicrelations@gmail.com

There will be an Alternative Breaks merch table where you can buy AB t-shirts, sunglasses, and stickers. Here’s a preview of our newest t-shirt ($12) and sticker ($5).

You can find winter, spring, summer, and weekend trip applications on our OrgSync page.
(Search for Alternative Breaks on OrgSync. Once on our page, click the “Forms” tab).

September Transformation Tuesday

September Transformation Tuesday: Join the conversation.

Join us for this month’s Transformation Tuesday!
September 20 | 9-10:15pm | Kirkhof 1142

Transformation Tuesdays are GVSU Alternative Breaks‘ monthly educational event series! They may involve watching a documentary, listening to guest speakers, or engaging in activities in hopes of fostering a constructive space for meaningful and reflective dialogue.

These events are open to all GVSU students, regardless of past Alternative Breaks involvement.

This month’s topic: Domestic Violence

“The fact is, [sexual violence] is utterly commonplace in all our cultures. It is part of the fabric of everyday life, yet we all act as if it’s something shocking and extraordinary whenever it hits the headlines. We remain silent, and so we condone it… Is it polite and comfortable to talk about it? No. Must we anyway? Yes.” ― Desmond Tutu.

Site Leader Retreat 2016

Grand Valley Alternative Breaks || Site Leader Retreat 2016 || Camp Henry

We had a great weekend at Camp Henry, where we hosted our annual Site Leader Retreat! Site Leaders attended workshops to learn more about service-learning and active citizenship; they also discovered their co-site leaders, trip locations, and trip topics!

We’re so grateful for our 2016-2017 Site Leaders. Without their hard work, dedication, and leadership, GVSU Alternative Breaks would not be possible!

Reminder: Our winter, spring, summer, and weekend trip applications open on our OrgSync page on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 PM!
