November 2016 – Grand Valley Alternative Breaks

We have officially reopened the winter and spring break trip applications! Summer trip applications remain open as well. Here are the new application deadlines:

Winter: Due December 11, 2016

Spring: Due January 27, 2017

Summer: Due March 13, 2017

Apply for a winter, spring, or summer alternative break on OrgSync!

To ensure that you are officially registered for a trip, be sure to pay the $5 application fee after you complete your application.

There is currently a wait list for winter and spring trips, but we expect that many who apply now will be placed on a trip soon.

There’s a lot going on in the wild world of Alternative Breaks, so here are a few updates for the month of November!

Participant Orientation

orientation-1 Wednesday, November 9 | 8:30 – 10:30 PM | Kirkhof – Grand River Room

Welcome new and returning winter and spring trip participants! This event is designed to help you better understand Alternative Breaks. It is also where you will meet your site leaders and other trip members, learn which trip you are on, and find out where you are going and who you are working with! It’s going to be a blast!

If you have completed your application and paid your $5 application fee but haven’t received any emails from us yet, please contact us at ab.gv.orientation@gmail.com and yet us know! We’ve had a few technical difficulties with communication, but we’re working hard to get everything sorted out. We apologize for any confusion!

November Transformation Tuesday

Transformation Tuesdays are GVSU Alternative Breaks‘ monthly educational event series! They may involve watching a documentary, listening to guest speakers, or engaging in activities in hopes of fostering a constructive space for meaningful and reflective dialogue.

These events are open to all GVSU students, regardless of past Alternative Breaks involvement.
