In the Winter 2017 semester, we created Alternative Breaks graduation cords to honor our outstanding student leaders who are graduating from Grand Valley State University. They are available to our Site Leaders and Executive Board members, both current and past.
These black cords are a symbol of excellence in leadership, commitment to community, and active citizenship.
Our students represent both Alternative Breaks and Grand Valley in different communities across the country. Due to this responsibility, they are held to high standards of leadership. They also complete many hours of service every year, and work to create an inclusive environment for all students to enter and engage in. For these reasons and many more, our students stand out in the Grand Valley community, and we strongly believe that they should be honored and celebrated for their outstanding achievements.
