Thank you to everyone who braved the rain and joined us for our first Service Saturday of the year! We had a great time working with Blandford Nature Center and Well House! Mark your calendars: The next Service Saturday is on September 24!
An enormous thank you to Grand Valley Magazine for featuring us in the Summer 2016 issue! The story reflects on our 25 years at Grand Valley State University, looking closely at the legacy of leaders who have invested so much in our organization. We are so proud to be rooted in the GVSU community, and we look forward to many more years of promoting active citizenship and creating service-learning opportunities on campus.
End-of-Summer Social and August Service Saturday are two upcoming events that will be great for anyone looking to learn more about or get involved with Alternative Breaks!
When: Thursday, August 25 at 6 PM
Where: We’ll be located by the tennis and volleyball courts near Lot C.
This event will be a great way to cool off after a long day during #GVSUMoveIn week. Swing by for a FREE FLAVOR ICE POPSICLE, and if you’re interested in learning more about #GVAB, there will be members there to chat and answer any questions.
Any and all GVSU students are welcome to join us. We can’t wait to see you there!

The 2016 Executive Board Retreat was this weekend, and we all had a blast learning, volunteering, and reflecting together.
During the weekend we had the opportunity to work with and learn from the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative! This organization does fantastic work in Detroit, Michigan, and we highly suggest you check them out!
We’re excited for the new year, and we hope you are, too.
See you soon, Lakers!
